AN ITALIAN PASTORAL IDYLL

This is a perfect house in a perfect location. Le Marche is a forgotten region of Italy, peppered with medieval hill top villages to rival anything in Tuscany or Umbria. The house is very much a home where the beds are comfortable, the showers powerful and the kitchen fully kitted out even for the most discerning cook. This really is a beautiful holiday home if you are looking to recharge your batteries.

THANK YOU

 Dear Harriet
Just wanted to say what a wonderful holiday we enjoyed at Casa San Nicola. We loved the house – it is so rare to find somewhere like home to rent! We really appreciated the quality of everything, down to the lovely beds and bed linen.
Our final evening was rounded off with a riotous Freddie Mercury and Queen tribute act in the main piazza which lasted well into the small hours!!

TASTE & TRANQILITY

Casa San Nicola is a real tribute to the owners, who have created here in the gently rolling countryside of Le Marche a true paradise in miniature. Our week’s stay was as close to perfection as can be imagined, with the villa itself being the true highlight. Though the photos convey a good sense of the high standards one can expect, they do not in fact do complete justice to the sheer joy of spending time in this wonderful place, with its exquisitely laid out grounds and generously proportioned indoor spaces.Pictures in themselves can also never provide an adequate clue to the comfort of beds or to how well a kitchen is equipped, but visitors to this property need have no anxiety on either count. Bibliophiles will be heartened to learn that they are also very well catered for in the cosy sitting room-cum-library at end of the central hallway. As has already been mentioned in an earlier review, this is very much a home (and one on which a great deal of taste and individuality has been lavished) rather than simply a holiday property. The swimming pool area is a delight, with a sweeping panorama over the valleys and distant hills; the loungers are robust and comfortable, and the pool itself a delight.Another attraction is the proximity of the village of Sant’ Angelo which, with its variety of amenities, allows for a very relaxed approach to grocery shopping. In short, our experience of Casa San Nicola – from the initial enquiry, through reservation process and ultimately the stay itself – has been effortless. Congratulations, Harriet, for creating this idyllic home and sincere thanks for allowing us to share the experience.

HEAVEN!

We stayed at this beautiful home for two weeks in July and wholeheartedly recommend it. The interiors are elegantly and luxuriously furnished – such a contrast to the usual, Spartan holiday villas – and there is a huge library of books, DVDs and games. There’s even a fully stocked larder in addition to the generous welcome pack that was provided for our arrival. The grounds are stunning: from the sparkling pool to the gloriously planted garden. It’s managed locally by a very friendly mother and son team who ensure that everything remains immaculate. The house is fabulously situated and an easy walk to the charming village of Sant’Angelo in Pontano. It is uphill on the way there but our 2.5yr old and 4yr old managed it so not too arduous! There are lots of wonderful restaurants in the area and we sampled most of the recommendations in the comprehensive house “handbook”.Harriet really seems to want her guests to have a lovely time and we felt looked after without any sense of intrusion. This was our perfect holiday rental (and holiday!) and we very much hope to return. Thank you, Harriet.

AS FABULOUS IN WINTER AS IN SUMMER

As the owner says, this is furnished as a home not a holiday rental, and a very comfortable, high spec home at that. Last time we stayed in August, which was wonderful, and we could not wait to return. We had been assured that it was warm and cosy enough for a winter visit too, but as we drove through a blizzard en route from the airport we did begin to wish we had packed hot water bottles. We need not have worried. The house was incredibly warm, the wood burners easy to light, and the super comfortable beds were cosy. 2 days later we were eating meals outside in bright sunshine. The local restaurant and cheese maker recommendations were impeccable, the markets, even in winter, were groaning with seasonal produce and we discovered that the kitchen is seriously well equipped. We even used the pasta machine. We felt refreshed and indulged. Thank you for sharing your home with us!
