Casa San Nicola is a real tribute to the owners, who have created here in the gently rolling countryside of Le Marche a true paradise in miniature.Our week’s stay was as close to perfection as can be imagined, with the villa itself being the true highlight. Though the photos convey a good sense of the high standards one can expect, they do not in fact do complete justice to the sheer joy of spending time in this wonderful place, with its exquisitely laid out grounds and generously proportioned indoor spaces. Pictures in themselves can also never provide an adequate clue to the comfort of beds or to how well a kitchen is equipped, but visitors to this property need have no anxiety on either count. Bibliophiles will be heartened to learn that they are also very well catered for in the cosy sitting room-cum-library at end of the central hallway. As has already been mentioned in an earlier review, this is very much a home (and one on which a great deal of taste and individuality has been lavished) rather than simply a holiday property. The swimming pool area is a delight, with a sweeping panorama over the valleys and distant hills; the loungers are robust and comfortable, and the pool itself a delight. Another attraction is the proximity of the village of Sant’ Angelo which, with its variety of amenities, allows for a very relaxed approach to grocery shopping.In short, our experience of Casa San Nicola – from the initial enquiry, through reservation process and ultimately the stay itself – has been effortless.
